SodaStream allows for the simple at-home creation of some of your favorite soft drinks and other carbonated refreshments. How does it work, and what options are available when it comes to this system’s fizz-making CO2 canisters?
Here’s your quick guide on SodaStream CO2 Canisters and how long they last.
SodaStream Basics
For those new to the SodaStream, as touched on above, this machine allows for you to make your very own carbonated drinks from the comfort of home. It works by using CO2 to put the carbonated fizz into whatever drink you’d like to carbonate. When it comes to the regular use of this great invention, though, the most common questions typically revolve around its use of CO2 to create carbonation. The following represent some of those most common questions as well as their answers.
How Long Does SodaStream CO2 Last?
How long your SodaStream canister lasts depends on how often you make soda and how much you fizz your drink each time you make a soda.
However, in general, you should be able to make about 60 liters of carbonated water drinks. That’s 60 SodaStream bottles. So, if you were to make one liter (ie. one SodaStream bottle) every day, you would get about 60 days of carbonating action out of one SodaStream canister.
The canisters aren’t measured in time but in liters of output instead. Once you’ve come to the end of your canister, you’ll notice that very little to no gas is coming out, and this means it’s time for a replacement canister.
Are There Different Sizes or Types of SodaStream CO2 Canisters?
For anyone wondering, there is only one type and size of official SodaStream CO2 canister. However, these canisters are interchangeable with several other drink-carbonating systems. There are several “off-brand” CO2 canisters that will fit to the SodaStream machine. SodaStream also offers a canister refill service which allows for scheduled refill deliveries arranged online and ahead of time.
Cost Considerations
When it comes to the deeper cost analysis on SodaStream use, ongoing usage costs are much lower versus simply buying other pre-made carbonated drinks in the store. This is especially true if you are into making carbonated drink mixes that are not typical to the local grocery store and that would otherwise require the services of a special drink maker and a more niche vendor. Final Thoughts
The SodaStream is a great and new idea for allowing people to make their very own carbonated drink mixes that had never been possible before from the comfort of home. SodaStream CO2 cartridges are required for the machine to work, but the refills are priced very reasonably. These canisters also make a very generous 60 liters of carbonated refreshment each. At the end of the day and with all factors considered, the SodaStream and its canister system are a great addition to any home or office.
